Eden Prairie MN Realtor is a “Late Bloomer!”

by Buzz Awards Committee on September 23, 2008

I guess you could say that Eden Prairie MN REALTOR Nate Thompson was a “late bloomer.”  Many of the best agents began with several completely different careers before taking up real estate as a profession.  Skills that are needed by real estate professionals are often honed in other fields.  The skills and unique talents are discovered and perfected in other professions or sectors, and become even more valuable when transferred to the practice of real estate.  This Eden Prairie MN REALTOR is a case in point.

Nate Thompson started playing tennis when he was 11 or twelve.  Many players consider this to be a late start.  It didn’t matter.   Nate won two state doubles championships,  and finals of singles one year in the state of South Dakota.  Nate graduated in 1987 and went to Division III Gustavus Adolphus College.  Nate, under the guidance of renowned coach Steve Wilkinson, taught tennis at his Tennis and Life Camps for two summers.  Nate was all-conference in the MIAC his senior year.    After college, Steve found Nate a teaching job in Rosario Argentina where he taught tennis for 3 months at a club and learned Spanish.  Then he sold all of his rackets and traveled throughout South America for another three months.  After that, Nate took a job teaching tennis at the then Flagship Athletic Club in Eden Prairie and taught for six years working primarily with the junior program.  He also spent 8 weeks one summer coaching and traveling across Europe with highly ranked kids from across the country.  Nate was a coach for two summers with the Sectional 16-and-under kids at the national competition in Salt Lake City Utah.  After tennis, Nate worked as a financial planner with Paine Webber.  Nate Thompson became a licensed Eden Prairie MN REALTOR in 1998.

Have these past career experiences helped Nate Thompson sell Eden Prairie real estate?  A look at his stellar production record and his large collection of testimonials from satisfied clients will give you your answer.

How did his professional tennis career make him a better REALTOR?  Nate acquired the competitive spirit that a good real estate agent needs. In today’s market, this spirit is especially important. He is not satisfied with just listing your house and waiting to see if it will sell.  As your teammate, Nate wants your home to SELL FIRST at TOP dollar!  In other words, he wants you to win!  If he is helping you buy a home, you will notice his strong drive to help you locate the BEST value and SCORE a transaction that is most favorable to you!

How does the teaching and coaching background help you if you select him to be your Eden Prairie REALTOR?  Nate has the methodical patience that is needed to ensure that you thoroughly understand every facet of your real estate transaction before you proceed.  He also knows that everyone is on a different “learning curve” and takes nothing for granted.  The fact that he is bilingual also means that he can assist members of the Spanish-speaking community.

What about his stint at Paine Weber?  This one is easy.  Your choices regarding real estate will be one of the most important financial decisions you can ever make.  Nate’s just the guy to talk about the financial benefits and consequences of your decision.  Also, financial planners know how to pay attention to detail, which is not a common trait among many REALTORS.  Nate will ensure that all of the “i’s” will be dotted and the “t’s” will be crossed.  This means that you won’t encounter any “surprises” as your transaction proceeds.

A New Real Estate Website

Nate Thompson previously owned an operated a real estate website that was developed by Advanced Access.  Recently, he contracted REALTOR website development services with AgentBlogBuzz.com.  Pay Nate a visit at his new Eden Prairie MN REALTOR website. He’ll be glad you stopped by.

I think you’re absolutely right — with certain careers, it really helps to show up with backgrounds in something completely different. A competitive sports background certainly equips you with the skills you need to keep fighting for sales as a realtor, especially in an unsteady market. Most people I know who are realtors started as something else, so whenever I meet a brand-new college graduate who is becoming a realtor, it always seems a little perplexing!

Hmm. No sure the sport is relevent, unless you want to count under 16 hockey? More important are a varied working background and an interest enough to learn.- lland law, contract law, economics, building, carpentry, plumbing, IT, PR, SEO

What a interesting thing to read, and what a small world. Nate sold us a home on Park Hills Dr. in Bloomington back in 2003. He was a nice guy, though at the time I was not in real estate and the whole transaction was a blurr. Since then we have sold that house and moved on to Delaware, and then on to New Jersey, were I work as a Full Time REALTOR myself.

Best of Luck Nate, and work hard.

I think its really important to try things out before you just take on one career. We are molded by our experiences in life. Multiple situations and different experiences help us to be the most diversified and most valuable people. Qualities are learned many times.
